Pondering Revival
Pondering "revival" today. Does the Church need a spiritual awakening? Do we really want it? By definition revival is "restoration to life, consciousness, vigor, strength, etc." That sounds great! But revival is not something that can be planned or manufactured. It is a sovereign movement of a Holy God. What we do is "set our sails to catch the wind from Heaven when God chooses to blow upon His people once again." (G. Campbell Morgan) That means being willing to wait on God even if no miracles are manifested. It means living life according to the Scriptures even when it seems God is silent. It means moving forward in our faith even when we encounter a mountain or a giant in our path. Yes, the Church definitely needs a spiritual awakening. The only way for that to happen is for those who make up the church to revived...to be awakened spiritually.
