Senior Pastor

Pastor Randy was overwhelmingly chosen as Senior Pastor of Southside in December 2015, after serving for a short time as our Ministry and Discipleship Pastor.  He was previously the Senior Pastor at Calvary Baptist Church in Lufkin, Texas for almost ten years. Preceding that, Pastor Randy served as Senior Pastor of Mooringsport Baptist Church in Mooringsport, LA for six years. He also served as Pastor at New Light Baptist Church in Mangham, LA for a little over three years. While completing his bachelor's and master's degrees, Pastor Randy served as youth minister at churches in Louisiana and Tennessee.

Growing up in Louisiana, Randy came to know Christ at the age of ten. He was licensed to preach in 1985, and ordained in 1989 by Temple Baptist Church, Monroe, Louisiana. Randy earned a Bachelor of General Studies degree from Louisiana State University, and a Master of Divinity from Mid-America Baptist Theological Seminary, in Cordova, Tennessee.

Randy’s passion in ministry is to see people grow in their relationship with Jesus. He is strongly committed to preaching the changeless truths of God’s Word and in leading the church to reach Lufkin and the world for Jesus Christ.

Randy’s wife, Becky, has been his partner in ministry since 1990. Becky is the Family Advocate Coordinator at Harold’s House, East Texas Alliance for Children. Becky has been involved in leading the women’s ministry, and singing in the Praise Team. Becky has a servant's heart and is always willing to serve others.

The Browns have one daughter, Missouri. Missouri attends Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, LA. After her graduation in May 2017 she plans to work on her Master’s Degree in Social Work.

Randy enjoys spending time with his family, playing golf, and watching sports, especially the LSU Tigers! His favorite Bible verse is Romans 5:8 (ESV), “God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”
